Avoid BPA Containing Products

We first learned of the dangers of BPA through plastic water bottles and baby bottles. BPA is bisphenol-A, a toxic chemical that resembles human hormones. This chemical has been associated with diabetes, heart disease, infertility, reproductive issues, and certain cancers. Here are a few ways to avoid BPA products: purchase more fresh foods and look for food, including baby food, in glass jars instead of cans. BPA has been known to leak from the can into the food itself. Look also for plastic containers labeled #1, #2, or #4 that are healthier than polycarbonate plastics. [1]

BPA is almost impossible to avoid, but you can help limit your exposure by watching out for products that have the “BPA free” label.
