Avoid Nail Polish in Winter

With summer and sandals months away, now is the perfect time to let your toenails breathe by keeping them free of polish. Although nontoxic, nail polish does contain chemicals including solvents, resins and plasticizers. Burying your nails under these heavy lacquers can suffocate your nail’s health. You will notice your nails need some care if they are brittle or yellowed. Going polish free will allow nails to hydrate and take in some much needed oxygen.[1]

Solvents used to remove your nail polish can be harmful as well. Look for acetone-free natural nail polish removers in the hygiene section of your local health store or order some online.
