Be Careful of Hepatitis B from Nail Salons

Hepatitis B is a virus that negatively affects your liver, and is contracted when you come into contact with the blood or fluids of an infected person. Because of this, treating yourself to a manicure could pose a dangerous threat. Unsanitary salon practices (like not disinfecting tools) can open you up to contracting Hepatitis B. Protect yourself from the virus by only visiting nail salons with proper disinfecting practices.[1]

For extra protection, you can bring in your own tools (like disposable nail files) for your nail technician to use. Most nail kits are inexpensive and can be found at your local drug or beauty store.
