You’re walking through the house with no lights on…and it happens! You stub your toe. Whether the toe is broken or not, the proper way to aid your toe is to apply a buddy splint. This involves wrapping gauze around the broken, or injured, toe and the next biggest toe that is not injured. Place a popsicle stick or cotton ball between the toes so the injured one heals straight. Apply medical tape to hold the gauze in place.[1]
Do not ignore symptoms! If the swelling and pain does not subside in three days, you need to visit your foot doctor in case the injured toe is broken.
