Heartburn and Dietary Fiber

By simply adding more dietary fiber to your diet, you can help fight against heartburn.  Heartburn is the result of stomach acid that backs up into the esophagus after eating.  Common triggers of heartburn are high-fat or spicy foods, tomato products, chocolate, peppermint, caffeine, carbonated drinks or alcohol.  Not everyone has the same triggers, so take notice of what you eat and how it affects you.  Dietary fiber, including fruits, vegetables and whole grains, will digest easily to avoid overworking the stomach.  They also provide you with a feeling of fullness, which causes you to eat less.[1]

Increase consumption of fiber such as vegetables, fruits, whole grains, beans and nuts. You will lose the heartburn, feel full and start losing weight in no time.
