Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy for Autism

It is estimated that in the U.S. alone, one in 150 children have autism. With all the studies out there to help control the disorder, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, exposure to pure oxygen, is showing positive signs. Studies have shown that when autistic children received 40 hours of treatment in a month they had the following improvements: less irritability, more responsive when spoken to, increase eye contact, and they were more sociable with other children. Though testing is still going on, side effects include bruising of the eardrums, sinus pain, and in rare cases seizures.[1]

Ask your doctor about hyperbaric oxygen therapy. It is not claimed as a cure for autism, but it could help improve their understanding of the world around them!
