Proper sleep is important, without it our bodies can quickly put on weight. A recent study is pointing to electronic items (TVs, computers, video games) as instigators of childhood obesity. With access to electronics in their rooms, kids are less likely to get the proper sleep. Research shows that these kids were 1.5 times more likely to gain weight, and over 2.5 times more likely with access to three or more electronic items. [1]
Help your kids by designating their rooms as sleep sanctuaries, and remove all electronics from their bedrooms. Moving these items into the family room can help you monitor use and ensure sufficient, restorative rest.
