Natural Insect Repellent

Witch HazelStay away from insect repellents that have DEET in them. DEET is designed to repel insects, but it can also be a skin irritant as well as very toxic to wildlife. Try natural insect repellents that you can make at home! One easy recipe to try is: fill half of an 8 ounce spray bottle with boiled or distilled water, add witch hazel to fill it almost to the top, add ½ teaspoon of vegetable glycerin (optional), and add 30-50 drops of essential oils to a desired scent. Some great oils to use are: rosemary, clove, lavender, cinnamon, and eucalyptus.*

There are even simpler ways to repel bugs! Rub some vanilla extract on your skin or even rub lavender flowers or dried mint leaves to get the same effect.
