Nutritious Sea Vegetables

Sea vegetables, also known as seaweed and algae, are amongst the healthiest foods in the world, according to many experts.  They are great sources of Vitamin K, iodine, B vitamins, magnesium, iron and calcium.  They also contain good amounts of lignans, which help fight against tumors and the spread of cancer cells.  Common sea vegetables are: Arame, Dulse, Kombu, Hijiki, Nori and Wakame.  They may sound completely foreign to you, but try looking at your local health food store or oriental market and you’ll find some great items. Don’t let new foods scare you!  Look online for some great recipes that include sea vegetables.  You might just find a new family favorite!
