Poor Oral Hygiene and Heart Disease

Poor oral hygiene can do more than cause cavities; it greatly increases your chances of heart disease. How? When you practice poor dental hygiene (for example, you don’t brush at least twice a day or you skip daily flossing) you are at risk for gum disease. Studies have shown a link between problems with your gums and your heart; those who have infected gums are almost twice as likely to suffer from coronary artery disease. Regular visits with your dentist will help keep the health of your gums on track.[1]

For exceptional gum health brush and floss after every meal. Should you experience bleeding gums or bright red gums that are tender to the touch, visit your dentist, as these are signs of gingivitis.
