Do you have a thermometer in your refrigerator? How about your freezer? Relying on the pure fact that they are supposed to keep your food cold doesn’t always mean they are helping to keep your food from spoiling. The refrigerator should be at 40 F or lower to slow the growth of bacteria allowing your foods to keep longer. The freezer should be at 0 F or lower.
Always place the thermometer at the front so you can easily read the temperature and check it at least once a week. [1] Avoid overfilling your refrigerator! Doing this will not allow the cool air to circulate and your foods will not be kept at the proper temperature.
