It’s been a rule of thumb since we were young that when purchasing new shoes there is a “breaking-in” period. In this time we hope that the shoes we just purchased will ever so slightly mold to become the perfect fit to our feet. Here’s a new rule of thumb: purchase the pair that fits properly from the start! Your feet should not be in pain with new shoes. With age, our feet change and we must make sure they receive proper support to protect them against any injuries or ailments. Toes should be able to move around and not be crunched and the heel should not collapse when squeezed. [1]
Shop for shoes that fit from the beginning and try shopping at the end of the day, since your feet naturally swell.
