Sitting Causes Flat Feet

Fallen arches affect roughly 70% of the population, due to a sedentary lifestyle. On average, Americans sit for 10 hours per day. Sitting causes your hamstring (back of your thighs) muscles to tighten up, which causes your hip to tilt forward putting extra pressure on the balls of your feet. This will cause your feet to over-pronate, or roll more inward than normal, causing your arches to fall.[1]

Avoid sitting for too long. Take frequent walking breaks to offset these ill effects and stretch your hamstrings by bending forward to touch your toes.
