For healing wounds, how about a more natural approach like sugar and honey! Simply put, sugar has the ability to absorb water that keeps bacteria from growing and honey has an antibacterial enzyme called glucose oxidase that helps fight infection. Honey is also great for foot injuries, especially those that happen with diabetics, because it can destroy the type of bacteria that is associated with strep, which hinders a wound from healing. Pour a little sugar into the wound and cover it with honey to seal it before putting on a bandage.
Add some sugar and honey to your first aid kit! For honey, look for either raw or Manuka honey, which has an antimicrobial ingredient.[1]
