Watch out for these Toxic Laundry Detergents

We all want our clothes to be clean and smell like “clean air” or “April Fresh,” but as for our health, we might as well not wash at all!  Studies have shown that the products we use to clean our clothes can be very toxic.  New studies show that scented dryer sheets could add up to 17 more VOC’s (volatile organic compounds) to dryer emissions. These VOC’s include acetaldehyde, acetone, butanal, and ethanol. Laundry rooms in basements have a more concentrated amount of VOC’s because of the lack of air circulation. [1]

Stay away from scented products and look for products that are natural, “fragrance free” and “hypoallergenic.”
